What size horse should a kid ride?

The size of the horse actually doesn't really matter so much. What is important is that the horse is tame and trained and able to be ridden. An 8 year old should get the right size saddle so that they fit properly on the horse, but otehr than that the actual size isn't so important.

It really doesn't matter. It's more what the child prefers. If he's afraid of a larger horse then get him a smaller one or get him a pony. Just make sure he looks proportionate on the horse and is not too big. The most important thing is to make sure the horse is safe for him.
