So for this, we need to look at our AWG (American wire gauge) chart. The voltage does not matter in choosing the conductor diameter, only the current. According to the chart, a safe AWG size would be AWG 3 wire. That's about 0.23" in diameter (229 mils).

The size of the electircal wire must be at least 2.5 milimeters section up to 4 milimeters. If the wire is too thin it can overheat.

In most places, the code for running a line that is 60 amps would be the use of a #4 gauge wire. 220 volt wiring is two "hot" legs and at least one nuetral. Any length of over 120ft, should be #3 wire.

In most cases the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes generally allows for a #6 AWG THHN, THWN conductor to be used with a load capacity of 60 amps at 220 volts AC. There are however other pertinent matters one must consider when choosing the correct conductor size for any application.

I would recommend 8 gauge aluminum or copper wire. Wire at gauge 10 would suffice for short distance transmission. However, it can not carry enough load to ensure meeting your required capacity at distances longer than eighty feet. This is assuming a connection to a 240 volt single phase source of electricity

This depends on the length of your wire run. I would recommend using 6 gauge for up to 75 feet, decreasing the gauge by 2 for every subsequent 75ft.
