Mashed white potatoes are good. Mashed or whole sweet potatoes go well with turkey dinners. Dressing or stuffing with gravy are a must for that dinner. Green bean casserole is expected in many households. Whole cranberries or cranberry sauce add an extra sweetness with the sweet potatoes. Pumpkin pie with whipped topping is good for dessert.

Typically, people serve stuffing (otherwise known as dressing), mashed potatoes and gravy, and an assortment of vegetables, such as green beans, corn, peas, or whatever they feel like having at that moment. Cranberry sauce is also a normal side dish for most turkey dinners.
