Lexapro is an SSRI for depression and/or anxiety. It is not addictive. It is taken daily as prescribed and has a subtle effect. Xanax is one of the benzodiazepines, like Valium or Ativan. It is highly addictive and can be dangerous. Very often a low dose of Xanas is order to help with the jittery feeling caused by some SSRIs.

It's probably not a good idea. Xanax is a major painkiller and system depressant. Lexapro is a serious medication for anxiety, depression, and compulsive behavior. Mixing medications in this way is incredibly dangerous. You should talk to a doctor, psychiatrist, or pharmacist before combining them. At the very least, moderate your dosage carefully, starting with small amounts to test reactions.

Lexapro and Xanax are medications that may be prescribed for certain mood swing disorders, depression, panic attacks and anxiety problems. In some cases, doctors can recommend a combination of both medications to patients with these psychological problems. However, it is important to note that there may be certain side effects associated with these medications. These can include drowsiness, confusion and dizziness.

You should only take the prescribed amounts. These medications should not be discontinued unless your physician knows about it. Xanax may need to be tapered off or it can cause withdrawal. If xanax is prescribed only as needed, this rule should be followed. Taking too much can cause it to be ineffective when you really need it.

If you were prescribed these by the same doctor than you should not be worried, but ifyour doctor does not know about either medications then you should speak to him about the interference they may have on each other. It should be adviced that you take xanax only as needed.

Lexapro and Xanax are similar medications for anxiety and/or depression, but which work in different ways. I strongly recommend you discuss these medications and their side effects with your doctor, and ask him or her any questions you may have.
