Well if you have a wireless network then you need to make sure that your connection is secured. Anyone in the area that is close enough can see your network so it need to be encrypted unless you want a lot of people hogging your bandwidth. Look online for guide on how to set your network up.

As long as your wireless router has WEP or WPA encryption and you only share these keys with people you trust, you will be fine.
