Putting male betta fish in with other fish is usually not too much to worry of. Be sure to avoid female & male bettas, and overly aggressive fish that tend to nip fins. A tight tank lid is also needed.

If the tank is large enough and there are only a few other fish, your male beta might be able to live there just fine. Introduce him to the tank at a time when you will be able to monitor it, so if there starts to be problems you can get him out. Male betas do better as lone fish.

Male betas are loners. If two male betas are together one will undoubtedly kill the other. They are very aggressive. They do not do well with fin nipping fish, either.
