well i know that if you live where you have mild winters you should fertilize late winter or early spring and if you have cold winters you fertilize late spring/early summer. the fertilizer used should contain a fast-release nitrogen and a timed-release nitrogen that's good for two or three months.

I use Insect Control Plus Fertilizer to kill two birds with one stone. Works great.  add a comment

I have to aerate my grass every couple of years in spring because our soil is really thick like clay. I also thatch mine using a rake at the same time. This will promote good growth. This type of grass is mostly used for putting greens or gold courses.

Bentgrass is a spreading grass that can feel like carpet when the lawn is maintained properly. One thing that you have to do is keep it mowed down. This grass likes lots of sun and good water drainage. Give it a good watering at least once a week when hot.
