Because Lap band surgery helps women to lose weight and decrease their insulin resistance, many find that it helps regulate their ovulatory cycles, making conception easier. It is recommended that you wait at least a year post surgery before trying to conceive. Talk to your Doctor before trying to conceive!

Having this surgery can increase chances of pregnancy. When you are overweight, changes in how your hormones are produced can impede pregnancy. When you get pregnant you need to work with your nutritionist because the way you take in food has changed. Your obstetrician needs to know about this surgery.

Lap Band surgery can actually lead to better fertility. Having the surgery before becoming pregnant can assist in diminishing the pregnancy-related medical conditions that obese women are at risk for.

You can still get pregnant, but you will need to let both the doctor that did your lap band and the OB-GYN that you are seeing know your wishes BEFORE getting pregnant. Adjustments will need to be made to the lap band as the pregnancy progesses, such as loosening for additional nutritional needs.

Doctors recommend waiting 1-2 years after lap band surgery before attempting pregnancy. The lap band can be adjusted so one get the proper nutrients for the baby when pregnant.
