Depending on what your x-ray is for, I would think that your x-ray should show what you are having the operation for in the first place.

A chest x-ray is an important component before surgery to make sure that the patient does not have a cold, pneumonia or anything suspicious that could affect the surgery. The technician will be protected in armor-like garb as you are x-rayed, causing some insecurity; but we know radiation is dangerous.

Preoperative chest x-rays are done to rule out any lung or heart disease that needs to be addressed before surgery or other procedure. Fluid in the lungs, lung infection, cancer, and congestive heart failure can all be detected from the x-ray and will be accounted for before and during surgery.

X-ray procedures are fairly simple and straightforward. Very little preparation is needed as long as objects that may cause an obstruction on the x-ray is removed. Special procedures for specific pre-op chest x-rays vary by person and operation. The attending surgeon should provide specific details as needed.

Pre-op Chest X-ray is very important before a patient will undergo a certain operative procedure because it will affect the condition if the patient has an abnormal findings. The chest X-ray result should be normal, the findings should be interpret such as the lungs are clear from the X-ray film and it has equal breath sounds.

It shouldn't be any different than a regular x-ray. The may do a few more x-rays to make sure they get all the angles they need before the surgery.

That depends on the purpose for your operation. That will have a bearing on how many views or pictures they take and what they expect to see. As for the x-ray procedure itself they will have you undress and put on a gown and take the x-ray. Shouldn't take long once you get past the wait.
