Fill the bottle of pills with water and remove the label. Then tape the lid shut and put the bottle in the trash.

In the past most people simply flushed medications down the toilet, which contaminates water. Many pharmacies will accept unused medication for disposal, and communities are starting to develop medication disposal services in some form. Of course the best advice for an antibiotic medication is to finish the medication as prescribed by your doctor to being with.

Are they left over because you didn't follow instructions and finish the medication? If so, finish the prescription. If the doctor discontinued the medication you can dissolve the pills in a small amount of water and pour the mixture into a paper towel - dispose in garbage not in the toilet. Flushed pills end up in our water supply.
