Depends on in which country you live, so you should check local laws. Most countries require only rabies shot for registration. But I strongly recommend (whether it's required by law or not where you live) that you take your puppy for main puppy diseases shot also.

Different states and municipalities have varying rules for what is required. You can check with your local animal control office, or any veterinarian. However, what is most common is that only a rabies vaccination is needed for registration. The veterinarian will give you a certificate to mail in after your puppy receives the vaccination.

Puppies need DHPP-LV, Rabies, Bordetella, Coronavirus, and Lyme vaccines. Depending on the age of the puppy, he/she will need several boosters to ensure complete immunization.

Registration doesn't actually require any shots, but your puppy does need shots for its own health and if you ever want to board him. The core vaccine is the 5 way, which protects against parvo, distemper, hepatitis, adenovirus, and parainfluenza. You dog also needs a rabies vaccination, and if you want to board him will need a kennel cough vaccine.
