Planting around a hot tub requires the same thought and consideration as planting in containers or beds. When choosing plants the following should be taken into consideration: sun/shade exposure, plants that repel insects, plants for fragrance and privacy. Water from the hot tub should not be a problem with the plants.

Decide what your preferences/needs are where hot tub is situated. Citronella grass will repel mosquitoes and other insects. Lavender and lillies provide fragrance and beauty. Small trees can add privacy as can potted tropical plants. Bamboo and climbing vines are good privacy options as well. Honeysuckle, wisteria, and jasmine are fragrant climbers.
