What mortar mix should I use for firebrick?

The fire brick has to withstand high temperature. It seems the magnesium oxide-silica slurry mix can be used as mortar.

the mortar mix used should be heat resistance. it is not important that how lengthier it is. it is only important that it should withstand the heat for a minimum duration of time.

Whatever you do, make sure you find a mortar mix that is heat resistant. That way the mortar absorbs the heat without cracking.

It is naturally pertinent to know what mortar mix should be sued for firebrick. Highly heat resistent mortar mix is usually recommended. Refractory mortars are best known in this category which absorb the extra heat and does not creat problem in the firebrick. The refractory mortars should be used only up to 6 mm.
