Cheerios are a great starter food. Other ideas are pieces of banana, bits of natural cheeses, cut up pasta, and bread. Gerber also makes packaged finger foods.

Apple Jacks and Fruitloops are good. The little cookies made for them are good. Food wise they have little dinners for them now, but most require mom feedings. Use caution.

Your baby can eat biter biscuits or other simple, fairly sugar free cookies. These foods are good because they won't disintegrate immediately, but the baby can work off small pieces at a time, and they will last for several minutes.

Depending on how advanced your 9 month old is, here is a list of potential foods. Butter cookies, animal crackers, puff cereal, cheerios, puff cheetos, dry fruit, or any finger type food found in the baby aisle will suit nicely.

Anything that isn't small enough for him to choke on and easy to chew. Crackers are healthy as well as rice cakes.
