What kind of side effects will you have from an iron infusion?

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it.

You could have cramps/leg cramp, diarrhea, dizziness; tired, headache, lightheadedness. You may have fever, backache, muscle pain, chest pain 1-2 days after. There may be altered taste, irritation at the site, rashes, itching, altered blood counts. Some people have no side effects.

There is an extremely small chance you could experience anaphylaxis, which is a severe allergic reaction that could result in death. Barring that, likely side effects include very low blood pressure, headahces, muscle and joint pain, dizziness, rash, pain at injection site, and cold chills/fever. You should only get this if you suffer from iron anemia, as directed by doctor.

I had 3 Iron infusions (left arm) without incident, the last 2 weeks ago. My iron is now on the low side of normal. However my left arm from elbow to wrist/hand is so weak that I can't hold a cup of coffee. It hurts not stop.  add a comment

Side effects that would occur due to iron infusion would include leg, shoulder, back as well as muscular pains for sometime after the procedure. Though recommendations to ease the pain would include anti-pain killers, avoiding strenuous physical activities and total rest.
