What kind of scanner do I need to listen to police?

Any scanner will pick up the police the thing you need to find out is what channel it has to be on to get the police in your area as far as I know if you can get fire and rescue then you should be able to get the police.

There are specialized scanners which specifically target the bands & frequencies used by police. Radio equipment manufacturers, such as UNIDEN, make many models from hand-held to desktop sets, at a variety of prices. You can also listen to some police frequencies online.

For the most part any decent digital or analog scanner should work. The hand-held versions are typically the cheapest. Look online for a list of commonly used police frequencies in your area.

You need a standard police scanner. You can find these on the internet or in the app store for the ipod. Its not that fun, trust me.
