Infants typically have very high heart rates. Their hearts beat about 25% faster than an adult's heart. When an infant's heart rate drops below 100/beats per minute, a parent should be concerned. Heart rates lower than 100/beats per minute can be an indication of a serious medical problem.

The heart rate should always be regular. A frequently irregular heart rate should be mentioned to your pediatrician. For premature infants the normal rate ranges from 120-170 beats per minute. At 0-3 months the norm ranges from 100-150. At 3-6 months, the norm is 90-120. At 6 months to one year, the norm is 80-120.

An infant has a heart rate of 100 - 120/min. If persistently less than 80 beats/minute it needs evaluation. Irregularity or skipped beats too are a concern.

In an infant a heart rate any lower than 65 should probably get looked at. 65 is kind of low for age anyway.

Infants typically have higher heart rates in adults. In the womb heart rate can be up to 150 so you can expect a higher heart rate. I would be concerned if their heart rate was less than 80 for a resting heart rate. Many adults can be as low as the 40's but infants should be higher.

It really depends on how old the infant is. A newborn heart rate is usually 120-150. Anything below 100 can be dangerous.

A newborns heart beat should be around 100-120 beats per minute. If the rate goes below 100 beats per minute thats cause for concern.
