The fuzzy green caterpillar, called a salt marsh, changes into a white moth with varying degrees of black spots and an orange abdomen. The salt marsh caterpillar is found in North America and dwell near dry areas while feeding off of crops. Forty-five days pass between the caterpillar to moth stage, and the moth lives 1-2 months.

If, it also has a pink and white stripe, then it's most likely an Io moth. If orange, it's the imported cabbage worm. If white, it's the alfalfa caterpillar.
