What is your salary if you are in the House of Representatives?

In 2010, most House members were paid $174,000 per year. The Speaker of the House received $223,500 and the majority and minority leaders were paid $193,400.

The annual salary since January 2009 is 179,000 for regular representatives. The Speaker of the House receives 223,500. Both party leaders receive 193,400.

When someone is in the House of Representatives, they must be in Washington D.C. to vote. This means they are away from home and work about half the year.
