What is wrong with my plumbing if I have black particles in my water?

There are a few possibilities, and each has a different remedy. The black particles could be grains of dirt from the bottom of your well. It may even be fire ant pieces. Your pump impeller may be tearing up, or the system may have been been opened or contaminated.

You have particles of your piping in your water supply. Depending on what your pipes are made of you may have lead in your water

Black particles in can mean there is a broken pipe somewhere along the path from the water company to your house. Dirt may be entering the pipes.

More than likely the cause is galvonized pipe that is rusting on the inside and coming out in the water supply.

There is nothing wrong in with your plumbing if you are getting black particles. If the pipe is not used for many days or if the pipe is very old, you may get black paricles.
