The Winter and Company's pianos of the 1940's era are unique in that they have an aluminum plate, or metal frame that was produced by Alcoa to reduce the piano's weight.

Winter and Company's pianos from the 1940's were made with an aluminum plate, also known as an Alumatone plate. This is different than the cast iron plates in other models. It was a much lighter piano. By the 1950's, aluminum plates were no longer used in pianos as it did not stand up as the iron plates did.

Any idea where I can get replacement mallets? I found one for $225 that works, but needs some work. I am in the Seattle area, any advice you have w/b appreciated!
