What is too big of an age difference in a relationship?

I've had experience with this. I find that when you date someone who is old enough to be your parent your maturity levels conflict. Twelve years seems to be the biggest gap to me. However, it depends on the person. If you're both mature then larger gaps could work out.

I believe thah 40 years age difference is too big. If there is any doubt on the age difference, then the relationship should end.
