fish

What is the white lump on the side of my dwarf gourami?

My fish might be sick. He has a white lump on its side, and I'm not sure what it could be. He seems to be eating with the same frequency and is otherwise acting normally.

Your gourami may have an abscess. If there are other fish in the tank (especially other gourami) this is likely as they are fairly combative. Get some antibiotics from your local fish store and follow directions for use. If you have fish that fight, you must separate them.

Your gourami could have ick. It's a parasite that you can treat with various medications available at a pet store. It could also be a bacterial infection which can also be treat with a different type of medication. Another possibility is a wound, there's not much you can do but wait until it heals.

It may be due to some sort of fungus infection. seperate him from other fishes. Mix some common salt in the water and see the result.
