Salt restriction, fluid restriction, and exercise are the standard conservative treatments. For Stage I hypertension not corrected by this, the usual medication of choice is either hydrochlorothiazide or an ACE inhibitor. Both are dirt cheap. The two are taken together if one isn't enough.

You can make some lifestyle changes to treat hypertension. For example if you are overweight, losing weight can help. Also quitting smoking and eating a healthy diet are other changes you can make to treat hypertension.

Hypertension is usually treated by medications and diet. Salt restriction and a reduced stress level can also be helpful. Your doctor will probably monitor you closely.

Hypertension treatment involves drugs, diet and life style modification. Drugs include beta-blockers, diuretics, alpha-blockers and vasodilators. Diet modification to reduce salt and cholesterol intake is required. Apart from that mild exercises like walking are mandatory.
