There are a couple different treatments, but the most effective is malacite green. Isolate any fish in your tank and remove the carbon from your filter. Raise the water temperature and add the treatment and the fish should be healthy within a week. Similiar results can be obtained with formalin treatment

There are additives you can buy to add to the water of your aquarium that are highly effective in treating ick but you must follow directions closely. You can also quarantine infected fish in a separate tank for up to three weeks, trying to get the water temp above 75*, or by adding a freshwater aquarium salt.

There are several commercial treatments for ick (ich). Most involve putting drops of medicine into the tank for a couple of days. The whole tank must be treated because of the infectious nature of ick (ich). A water change may be needed after treatment to ensure it does not come back.
