The seeds have been purposely ingested by some and resulted in making them ill for approximately two days. All parts of the flower are toxic. Be careful where you place a moonflower, keeping away from animals and humans. Conditions that can exist if you get moonflower poisoning are incoherence and visual difficulty.

Moon flower seeds can have a toxic affect on the human nervous system. Ingesting just one seed can cause a person to experience hallucinations while greater amounts can cause respiratory distress and possibly death. They are also toxic to animals and should not be planted where they might be consumed by household pets.
