What is the thread count of the softest bed sheets?

My daughter said she wanted "really soft sheets."

Thread count refers to the number of threads per inch. Therefore the more threads, the softer the sheets. 700 thread count will be much softer than 300 thread count.

The higher the thread count the softer the sheets are supposed to be. The softest I have found, but can only use in the winter, are flannel sheets. They are soft but even the thin ones keep you very warm. Look at the thread count on other types of sheets and choose a high thread count. They may cost more.

Typically higher thread count correlates with higher quality, not necessarily softness. Washing high-thread-count sheets makes them softer. There are plenty of types of sheets that are considered soft where thread count is not really an issue, like cotton jersey or flannel.

Honestly, it goes by: the higher the thread count the softer the sheets. But they can run pretty expensive that way, but it is probably worth it. Take her with you though, because it may turn out they are too soft for her and you may want her to feel them to get an idea.
