Soft shelled turtles must be kept in a low noise area. The tank should have a thick layer of clean sand at the bottom and make sure it doesn't contain any hard or sharp objects. Keep the water clean and have a basking area for the turtles. Maintain the water temperature anywhere at 77-85F during the day.

Your turtle should be by himself, or in small groups. Do not overcrowd. Keep water in the mid-70's and slightly acidic. Add live plants to the tank to provide oxygen. Turtles love laying on sand banks so provide a surface. Lastly, add one teaspoon of salt per gallon of water.

The tank needs a thick layer of sand. The sand should be thick enough so the turtle can cover itself completely. The water should be clean and around 85 degrees.

The optimum tank set up for a soft-shelled turtle is a large tank (at least 20 gallons) with a good filtration system. These guys can get pretty messy! A 100w light bulb should be used to keep the tank warm. You should take great care to check the pH and cleanliness as they are prone to infections.
