The state fish of Hawaii is called the humuhumunukunukuapua'a, believe it or not! This is pronounced "hoo-moo-hoo-moo-noo-koo-noo-koo-auhp-oo-ah-ah" It is also known as the rectangular triggerfish, and sometimes is shortened to the "humuhumu".

The official state fish of Hawaii is the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, which is also referred to as the Picasso Triggerfish or the Reef Triggerfish. Its legal status as Hawaii's state fish was established by a law passed in the state in 2006, and its name means "triggerfish with a pig-like short snout."
