The Second Reich was considered by Nazi German leaders to the German government ruled by the Kaisers in the 19th century until World War 1. The First Reich was considered to be the Roman Empire. The Nazis considered themselves to be in a lineage of strong, autocratic leaders that ruled over the German people, using symbolism was an important part.

Reich is a term used to refer to the German State. The first Reich was the Holy Roman Empire, while the Second was the Prussian states that arose in 1871 and continued to rule until the end of World war I. Notable leaders of the second Reich were the Kaisers and Otto von Bismarck.
