In Japanese families, the man is the undisputed head of the household and the family. Women are expected to focus on the children when they are born. The parents rely on the oldest son for support, and his obedience to his parents' wishes is expected even when he is an adult.

It is my understanding that in Japanese culture, the women are to be subservient to the men. This is normally true in Japan, not sure about the USA

The Japanese tend to value family and culture very highly. When a person gets old they tend to move in with their children and their children take care of them. Japanese people often teach their children the culture and like to pass it on from generation to generation. Even people who migrated from Japan to America embrace their heritage.

My daughter worked there for a year and we visited her and found most Japanese are very helpful and polite. One thing-they don't like to say no to a question outright. Like: When's the next flight to Pluto? That could be difficult. Welcome her and you'll be fine!
