Hypertension is a major cause of kidney disease. The heart is working extra hard to circulate blood through the body. The extra force can damage the vessels and the filtration system of the kidneys. Talk at length with your doctor about how you can control your blood pressure.

The normal function of kidneys requires blood pressure remain within a certain range. Anything that will lower your BP, especially avoiding sodium, will also protect your kidneys.

High blood pressure puts a lot of stress on the body and it's organs like the heart and the kidneys. The best way to protect your kidneys is to get the high blood pressure under control with weight loss, diet, and sometimes mediction.

Usually if you have high blood pressure that can mean that you have more than one problem, probably not to your kidneys.
