Swollen feet can be caused by lower blood circulation, which in turn can be caused by high blood pressure, or hypertension. There are other causes of swollen feet, though, including obesity, pregnancy, diabetes, arthritis, liver or kidney failure, and malnutrition. Treatment of swollen feet will depend on the cause, and you should check with a doctor.

Increased blood pressure will contribute to swollen feet. When someone has high blood pressure, their heart isn't pumping very effectively. As a result, blood flow to your feet is lessened. This decreased blood flow contributes to a abnormal buildup of fluid in your body which causes feet to be swollen.
