The C-reactive protein blood test measures levels of this protein in your blood. It is a nonspecific marker of inflammation; an elevated level means there is inflammation occurring in your body, though it will not say what the cause is. Culprits include infection, heart attack, and immune disorders.

Crp is c reactive protein; they look for high counts of that protein cause it's usually a red flag for inflammation and/or infection. If a high count is found, it gives the doctor some direction to look for other disease.
