First you have to report the incident to the insurance company and they will send an adjuster to find out the loss. Quickness of this process varies company to company. But be polite while dealing with them. The insurer will pay the loan amount to bank first and you will receive any remaining amount.

Your insurer will pay your bank the balance of the loan first. Any remaining amount will then be paid directly to you.
