In 240V wiring, in a single dwelling, allow 10 Amps for the first 20-receptacles, each rated to 10 Amps, and 5 Amps for each 20-receptacle block of subsequent points each rated to 10 Amps. You can have up to 40 receptacles on a single 15 Amp breaker.

Every circuit breaker can accommodate several receptacles provided the current rating is not exceeded. For instance a circuit breaker for light fittings ranging at 5 amperes can accommodate receptacles for at least five lighting fittings. The number of receptacles for sockets also will be determined by the output desired from the circuit breaker.

on residential wiring the National Electric Code (NEC) book gives no limit to the number. You should determine your power needs for that area to figure out how many.

The number of receptacles you can wire per circuit breaker varies on the amount of current and voltage required to run each of the receptacles.
