Atlanta has a few nicknames that I have heard of.The Athens of the South, is one along with, The City Too Busy to Hate, Dogwood City, and Gate City of the South. There are two more slang nicknames that I know of as well. The Dirty, Dirty South is one, and my favorite is Hotlanta.

Atlanta has several nicknames, but some of the most famous are probably "Terminus" (its nineteenth-century name when it was a rail center), "The City Too Busy to Hate" (applied during the Civil Rights Movement), "the ATL" (from its airport code), "A-Town," and "Hotlanta" (especially appropriate in July and August).
