What is the law in Illinois about a cemetery moving ashes after a cremation?

I don't think the cemetery people are behaving legally.

Talk to the cemetery representatives. They are well aware of the law and likely operating within it. They would be happy to explain, and if not, call the Health Department.

Basically, if you sign the ashes or a body over to a cemetery for a plot they can move or keep the corpse at their own discretion, get a lawyer and go over your document.

A crematory authority cannot knowingly represent to a person that a container contains the remains of a decedent when it does not.
