Walt Disney originally had a park in California, and he knew 75% of the population lived east of the Mississippi so he found a sight in Orlando and built there in 1963. He used fake corporation names to obtain the large amounts of land to build Disney World.

Walt Disney World first opened in October of 1971. The only park at that time was Magic Kingdom. Epcot was built about ten years later.

Walt Disney was the person who had the idea of Disneyworld. He wanted more than an amusement park he also wanted entertainment. His brother took charge of the Disneyworld idea because Walt died before Disneyworld came about. Disneyworld opened in 1971, five years after Walt's death. It started off as a campground and slowly developed into what it is today.

It was built in 1971 and modeled after Disneyland in California. Disney World was created as more of a vacation and resort location as opposed to Disneylands one-day visit style. In 1959, Walt Disney began looking for a more secluded location for a fantasy land and found Orlando, Florida.

Disney World was brought about with an idea by Walt Disney, who never saw his idea develop. His brother followed through on Walt's ideas to see Disneyworld built and open October 1, 1971. Walt Disney ideas as to not wanting just another theme park, led to the building of the EPCOT center which could be changed or even added to.

The history of Disney World started from a regular guy named Walt Disney who had a dream of making an amusement park where nothing seemed like it could be impossible!
