Medical school admission is highly competitive, so planning should start in junior high school. Medical school is grueling and the residency program is worse. You must have the emotional, mental, intellectual and physical stamina to endure the challenges throughout.

I think the hardest thing about being a paediatrician is loosing sick children that you were treating. It is heartbreaking having to deal with telling the parents you did all your best to help their child but failed as the parents often blame you for their childs death.

It depends, but from what I've heard it's difficult knowing that you are the symbol of fear/evil to children because you are holding the needle that is about to prick then. Also losing patients (which sometimes happens) and seeing people pass away is a terribly difficult experience. You have to go through medical school to be a pediatrician.

Dealing with the parents. They never stop nagging you about how to do your job no matter how skilled you are even though you're the one with the degree.

Dealing with sick children can be very difficult. Often they are unwilling to cooperate with tests and require more gental care and compassion.

The most difficult thing is dealing with kids when they are sick and injured. When children are very young they cannot tell you what hurts and will typically react with fear and screaming when they are in pain. You will have to accept that many children will hate you and be afraid of you.

The hardest thing about being a pediatrician is diagnosing abused children. If helping children is something that is sincerely in your heart, then treating abused children will no doubt touch you in some way. As a pediatrician, you are a mandated reporter so it is your job to report it. However, it is still a difficult reality to face.

I think the most hardest thing about becoming a pediatrician is being able to get really good grades when in school.
