What is the hardest instrument to play?

Many people would say that the French Horn is the hardest instrument to play, because it requires considerable coordination of both hands and the lips. Others say that the oboe is hardest to play because of its complicated fingering and double reed, and they describe it as "the ill woodwind that no one blows good. "

Double bass. No frets combined with a huge fingerboard makes for lots of shifting... which means it's pretty hard.

French Horn definitely. First its the Concert Horn with no trigger. Then they add the trigger. Then you have to learn the mellophone. Then you have to learn the new mellophone with kicking to stay in tune. Not to mention mellophone is different fingerings. French Horn is a kickbutt instrument!

From personal experience I would have to say it's a tie between violin and oboe. The violin get terribley hard to play complicated pieces, because you are expected to play long and quick passages easily. The oboe on the other hand is so hard to keep in tune.

Bassoon! i switched from sax, and it's ridiculous: It has about a million keys, and theyre all used very commonly. Also, getting it in tune is horrible, and took me about a month to do.

i totally i agree. the flute is the hardest instrument there a million keys. plus, its hard to get a good grip on that long instrument while blowing. also, your back always hurts after!

I do not know if this is true of not but i have hard the hardest instrument to play is the accordian because there is so much involved cause you have the one side that's like a piano then the other side has other little buttons and you have to coordinate all this with pushing and pulling.

It depends on the person who plays or practices the instrument. However, generally speaking, Harp is difficult instrument to play. Many can be playing it for a long time and still remain just average. The manner of plucking and changing hands, in addition to the fact of the levers, one misplaced will spoil the whole thing.

I think personly the French Horn is the hardest insturment to play! The reason i say the is because i play and from expirience i would definetly say the oboe looks pretty hard to!!!!
