Police departments are likely to hire individuals with the discipline that being in the military requires. My department requires: - A 4-year degree - A very thorough background check - A 3-part medical exam - A psychological exam - A physical fitness test - 2 written exams - An oral board with an officer, sergeant, and lieutenant All that just gets you to day one of the academy. And getting hired does'nt mean you will make it through.

You should start by attending a police academy and studying hard enough to pass the required tests. After that, you have to find a police force that has at least one vacancy and prove that you are the very best officer for the job. It helps if you know someone!

Igonore everything what Stevek863 said. He is obviously very proud military member-but full of it. If you really want to be a PO, avoid the military. Civilain police and MP are two totally different worlds-and do not translate. Military do not make good cops mostly. Go to college!
