RAM and ROM are both little black circuit chips on the PC motherboard, the computer's main circuit board. RAM chips remember data while the computer is on, and forget when the computer is off. ROM chips never forget, they are usually used to remember the startup sequences for the computer hardware.

RAM is Random Access Memory. It is a volatile memory and used in computers for processing. It is available only when the computer is on and it vanishes when the computer is shut down. ROM is Read Only Memory. It is the information written and stored as memory, e.g.CD ROM. Floppy Disc.

RAM is a type of memory, it is quick, and the computer will write commands into it that it will usually need on a short term basis. Also, if you turn off your computer, it usually wipes the memory. ROM is usually like your hard drive, or a CD. It is slower, but doesn't disappear when the power is out.
