What is the difference between complex carbohydrates and simple sugars?

I always see those terms on nutrition labels, but I have never known what it means.

complex carbohydrates are made up of three or more sugars. Bread,pasta,corn legumes are sources of complex carbohydrates. complex carbohydrates takes longest time to digest. simple sugars are made up of one or two sugars and sources of simple sugars are fruit and milk. simple sugars are digested easily.

1. If the athlete consumes a simple sugar fuel the body will only permit 6-8% of it in solution into circulating serum for fuel replacement. 2. Complex carbohydrate fuels are easily and more-rapidly absorbed in a 15-18% solution. More calories are absorbed and available for energy production.

Simple sugars are made up of only one or two types of sugar and are easily and quickly processed and burned by the body. This is what gives the "sugar high". Complex carbohydrates are three or more sugars linked also called starches. They are burned and processed by the body more slowly.

carbohydrates don't have glucose where as we find glucose in sugars that is the main difference between carbohydrates and sugars
