An air cooler evaporates water to absorb heat in the air, turning hot, dry air into cool, humid air. It is only meant to work in hot, dry weather. Air conditioners use a refrigeration process of compression and expansion of a refrigerant to absorb and reject heat, usually taking humidity with it. They do opposite things for the same effect.

There different an air cooler will blow cool air in (usually off a chilled water system), an actual air conditioner will remove heat and dump it at the outside unit. Basically air conditioners are more effective.

Air coolers and air conditioners both cool the air, but an air condition also removes moisture from the air. Not only that, but an air cooler can actually increase the humidity by evaporating water to cool the air. This is why they are sometimes called swamp coolers. However, air conditioners consume much more electricity.

An air cooler lowers a person's body temperature while an air conditioner cools the room. A ceiling fan is an example of an air cooler, because it will lower your body temperature, but cannot, by itself, cool a room. An air conditioner will lower the temperature of the entire room.

Both of these devices cool the air. An air conditioner not only cools the air though, it removes moisture that is in the air, it does this by lowering the air and consending the water out. An air cooler just brings the air in from outside and makes the air cool.

An air cooler, such as a swamp cooler, runs air through a cold source it to cool it down. A primitive version is an electric fan behind a large ice block ergo a "poor man's A/C. " An air conditioner uses freon which cools down air which is then recycled. The A/C also removes moisture as well.

Air cooler is a device which dissolve water molecules in air with the help of fan. Air conditioner is different from air cooler. Air condition utilizes technic of compressing air and then cool it. sometimes air conditioner is also used to heat the atmosphere also.
