Most contracts with the Navy are for at least 4 to 5 years. You should definitely do some research because that is not a common job in the navy. You may also have many other responsibilities.

Go the the U.S. Navy's website. Click on the Locate A Recruiter button. Find a recruiter near you, phone and set up an appointment. A Navy recruiter is the only source of reputable information regarding job openings in the Navy as well as enlistment options. Go straight to the source for the best information.

The length of the contract is whatever the normal initial sign-up length. I think its like two years. Once you have done your initial time you can reenlist and get extra money for it usually.

The U.S. Navy will decide if you can be a firefighter in the Navy. The ultimate authority on the possibilities in that regard is a Navy recruiter. Go to the Navy's website and click on "locate a recruiter." Make an appointment to sit down with recruiter and explore your options.
