There are many different causes. If the bumps are sore, there is a potential that they are swollen taste buds. These often occur from eating too many sweet or salty foods. If you have consumed more of these foods than normal, drink a lot of water and do not irritate the swollen buds for a few days.

You should check what could be causing irritation to your tongue such as spicy foods or if a bacterial issue could be the cause. It's not typically a serious condition.

Those are your tastebuds. There is nothing to worry about. I think your tongue gets more bumpy as you get older and burn it more often. Everyone I know has a bumpy tongue.
