Bone spurs are unnatural growths protruding up from bones. While they can form in many areas, the wrist is one of the most common. Almost all wrist bone spurs are the result of osteoarthritis, occasionally old injuries are to blame as well.

A bone spur is just an overgrowth of bone in an area that is under constant wear, pressure, or rubbing. A callous of the skin is a comparable situation.

Bone spurs in the wrist can be caused by osteoarthritis, degenerative arthritis. tendonitis, carpal tunnel, or an over-activity of the wrist. I guess the person should think about whether it was caused by an acitivity or use or if it could be due to arthritis or another disease like it.

Osteoarthritis is the most common reason many people get bone spurs on their wrist. Since the wrist is made up of tiny carpal bones having such spurs can be very uncomfortable.
