According to Mazda, the "Car with a key inside it" light is just a signal to anyone who might try to steal the car. It means that the car has an engine immobilizer in in.

It's a warning light for your key fob. Mazda keys have a chip in them, for added security. There is a problem with it, or you need a new battery.

That is the indicator for your energy immobilizer, which is an anti-theft measure. As long as it is blinking, everything is okay. That light draws a minimal amount of power, and shouldn't affect battery life at all.

My Toyota has this also. It signals that the car security system is working. This is not the same as a car alarm. I think it's a theft deterrent.
