The Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom was founded in April 1918, during the First World War. Its symbol is a red, white, and blue target or roundel that appears on all of its more than 1,000 aircraft. The RAF is the oldest air force not under the control of an army or navy.

The symbol for the Royal Air Force is a red disc surrounded by a white ring which is then surrounded by an outer blue ring. It looks like a bullseye.
